Deaflympics is a special sporting event that is held every year just for deaf athletes. Those athletes come from countries all over the world to compete in the Summer Deaflympics and/or the Winter Deaflympics. In this lesson, students will have the opportunity to learn about the history of Deaflympics—how it got started, and how far it has come. They will learn more about the countries that compete, and the athletes who represent those countries.
Objective 1: Students will demonstrate an understanding of the development of Deaflympics from the early 1900s to the present time;
Objective 2: Students will develop a product draft using an organized structure appropriate to purpose and audience;
Objective 3: Students will develop a final product using appropriate writing, editing, and relevant sources.
