April 23-25, 2021
Due to the impact on Texas families by the recent snowstorms, our March and April retreats have been combined. The April 23-25 retreat is now for all 9th-12th grade deaf and hard of hearing Texas students.
Team up with other students who are deaf and hard of hearing to plan against future viruses and pandemics. Learn how and why a virus or a disease might spur a pandemic, study society’s response to past pandemics, then work together to develop strategies for prevention and protection. With Kelly DeRoche, Senior Materials Program Associate on the team at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals which was involved in the development of the COVID-19 vaccine, we’ll learn all about vaccines and how they work.
♦ For Texas high schools students who are deaf and hard of hearing
♦ The retreat is at no cost to our students
♦ At the Peaceable Kingdom, Killeen, TX
♦ Limited to a maximum of 20 students (10 per gender to keep numbers limited in each cabin). This is still below the CDC and ACA maximum number for this site. CDC recommended safety measures will be followed, including masks required and social distancing at all times.
