About Assistive Technology
-
Assistive technology refers to "any item, piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially, modified, or customized, that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities".
For individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, assistive technology can provide access to communication and to the environment. This may include devices for accessing telecommunication, personal amplification, assistive listening, alerting, and captioning.
Many of the Assistive Devices can be purchased through the companies below. (Links are provided for informational purposes and convenience and are not endorsed by Statewide Outreach Center).
