This is the adapted version of the text. The chapter worksheets that are included in this lesson plan, were made using THIS version of the book. For struggling readers, this is where you would begin, and then, after reading a chapter in this version, move to the abridged version and once a student is able to read the abridged version, the grade level text would be next. It is not necessary to read all three versions. They are simply supplied here for your use as you see fit to meet your student's needs.

This is an additional unit that has been created by a group of teachers and posted online for others to use. It again goes beyond the adapted text, and addresses information in the grade level text that you may find useful. Although there may be portions that would not work with your specific population, there are ideas and lesson plans included that could prove to be very useful.
