Personal Amplification

Personal amplification is a general term for devices an individual wears to enhance or improve their access to sound. Personal amplification is for single-person use only. There are several kinds of personal amplification devices. Below, we list the three most commonly used by deaf and hard of hearing students.

Which One is the Right Fit for My Child?

Each deaf and hard of hearing child has a unique hearing level. Hearing levels are complex because frequency, intensity,  residual hearing, and communication and language goals must be considered. To determine the best fit, we recommend you consult the following people:

  • Your child
  • Your family
  • Your child's primary care doctor
  • Your child's IEP Team
    • the school audiologist
    • the school's language and speech pathologist
    • your child's teachers
