>> As the trial proceeded, Atticus was questioning the Sheriff. He asked a variety of questions regarding the details of what happened. One question was related to the girl and where she had been punched, whether it was on the right-hand side or the left-hand side of her face. The Sheriff said it was definitely the right-hand side. There were bruises all on the right side of her face. So the Sheriff got off of the stand, and then Bob Ewell took the stand, and Atticus gave him a sheet of paper. And he said, "Would you mind writing your name on that?" And Bob took the paper, and with an attitude he wrote his name. Atticus showed that Bob wrote with his left hand. Why is that important to show that Bob Ewell was left-handed? Do you think it's important to show that? Scout was observing everything that was going on, and she spotted Tom. Remember, he had one arm that was messed up, his left arm, and that's important to remember. And Bob writes with his left hand, and Tom's left arm doesn't work. Is that important? Why?
