The timeline for the 2020-2021 National Literary Competition is as follows:

November 9th-20, 2020: Registration and Submission (done concurrently)

November 30-January 18: Judges review all submissions

January 19, 2021: Winners announced in an Award Ceremony via Facebook live-streaming

January 20-29th 2021: Amazon e-gift cards will be sent out to winners

THEMES

ASL

ASL Handshape Story (for all age groups): 

Create an ASL story using handshapes to tell a story about oppression or discrimination.

ASL Storytelling (for all age groups):

Tell a story using “struggles vs triumphs” as a central theme.

ASL Presentation:

Elementary School Theme- What is diversity and why is it important?

Middle School Theme- What is systematic racism and how do we work together to dismantle systematic racism?

High School Theme- What are your thoughts on the defunding police movement and how does this help or hurt our society?

WRITING

Poetry (for middle/high school): 

This category has no theme.

Creative Writing (for middle/high school):

Tell a story using “struggles vs triumphs” as a central theme.

Essay:

Middle School Theme- What is systematic racism and how do we work together to dismantle systematic racism?

High School Theme- What are your thoughts on the defunding police movement and how does this help or hurt our society?
